Question:
Why do people have to file bankruptcy?
Answer:
When I go to court in Pennsylvania, the U.S. Trustee in Pittsburgh requires the case trustees in Pennsylvania to ask specifically why people have to file for bankruptcy. When I talk to people that aren’t filing, they really are confused why people have to file because they believe that they’re never going to have to file. There are many people that never thought they were going to have to file. Basically everybody that walks in the door never thought that they were going to have to file bankruptcy.
There’s one common factor that comes into play that forces people to file and it comes in different forms. The bottom line is loss of income. If they cut back on your overtime or you got hurt and now you’re on disability, or you had a break up where some partner that you had in the house with income is now gone and you have to support the whole household on your own. All three of those come down to a common denominator and that is loss of income. Additionally, a lot of people walk in and they’re really afraid to file because they believe that it’s going to be published locally; it is not. Please, make the phone call. Come in and let’s talk about it during a free consultation.
