Ignition Interlock Device
When arrested for a DWI, you may be required to install an ignition interlock device to ensure you are sober when you drive. To learn more, watch this video by experienced Jamestown DWI attorney Scott Humble and contact him today to arrange a free confidential consultation.
New York State made a law that if you were convicted of a DWI while your suspension is pending that you must have a DWI interlock in your vehicle. Not only your vehicle, but any vehicle that has your name on it. What happens is that vehicle can’t be started until you do a breathalyzer test. You must blow into a tube to start the vehicle and you must be under the legal limit before the car starts. It’s very expensive. There are companies that will rent them, but they are expensive to install, especially if you have more than one vehicle. You will need to have this installed on your car for one year.
